About Us

The rumors that the Rooster, Charles Barbre, was born in Tiger Stadium are exaggerated, but it is a fact that he grew up there.

The Rooster made his debut in Tiger Stadium at the same game Paul Dietzel made his debut vs. Kentucky in 1955.  On most nights ever since, the Rooster has been there when the Tigers have played.  He was there for some of the greatest games: Cannon's run, Davis' catch, the fog vs. Florida State.  He not only has been a football fan but has followed the other sports at LSU and around Baton Rouge as well.  The Rooster was there in 1961 when LSU won an SEC baseball title.  In 1978, he watched the basketball team beat Kentucky's national championship team 95-94 in overtime.

The 1990's saw the Rooster and LSU suffer through losing seasons in football and basketball.  However, he saw some great individual stars, such as Chris and Shaq in basketball, and Herb Tyler and Kevin Faulk in football.  The Rooster has been to the College World Series when LSU won national titles.

In order to stay current, the Rooster is very active in viewing LSU sports, attending over sixty sporting events at LSU each year.

With this background in sports inthe Baton Rouge area, the Rooster first went on the air on radio in 1991, hosting The Press box Show on WIBR.  The Rooster has broadcast many local high school football, baseball, and basketball games on radio and television.  He has also broadcast a number of LSU men's and women's basket ball, baseball, volleyball, soccer, gymnastics, and softball games on television.  In 1997, the Rooster started a live weekly television call-in show on Sunday nights, and as they say, the rest is history.  Sports Talk TV is now in its tenth season and is increasing in popularity every week.

The Rooster has grown up with Baton Rouge.  As a youngster, the Rooster remembers growing up off College Drive when it was a gravel country road, before it became the bottleneck that it is today.  The Rooster, a former Catholic High student, remembers the Bears being the doormats rather than the perennial power that they are currently.  The Rooster is an LSU graduate.  All of this gives him a special insight into the sports culture of the area which helps make Sports Talk TV an unique Baton Rouge experience.

The Rooster is married; he and his wife have two grown children.  The whole family are graduates and fans of LSU.

The Rooster is proud to be a Vietnam veteran, a family man, a Christian, and an LSU fan, and is proud of all that makes Baton Rouge the wonderful place it is to live.
